Before commencement of repairs, the person responsible for the work must check the reliability of the tank shutdown, appropriate instruments to analyze the air inside the tank and make sure that the contents of explosive and toxic substances are not permissible by the norms. In hot tanks it is also necessary to determine the temperature of the air. The content of carbon dioxide, methane is measured with the gas analyzer SHI-10.
When carrying out work related to the supply of parts, materials and other items that may cause injury when falling, workers must use protective helmets. Work in containers with insufficient air exchange, as well as in the presence of harmful substances in them, the worker must perform in the hose gas mask PSH-1 (with natural air supply) or PSh-2 (with forced air supply), which is worn before going down. When a hose gas mask is used, the corrugated hose must go out to the outside of the container at least 2 m. The end of the hose (intake pipe) is fixed in the clean air zone. The understudy must constantly ensure that the hose is not bent, twisted or clamped with any object.
Before descent into the apparatus or capacity, the worker is instructed, checks in the presence of the manager of work, the mask is fitted to the face, if necessary, he puts on a rescue belt with a signal rope, takes the battery-powered explosion-proof 12 volt light bulb and, without any objects in his hands, . The length of the worker's stay in the container is set by the instruction for the production of work inside the tanks, depending on the conditions of the work performed in them. When working with a gas mask, the period of a one-time stay of a worker in a container should not exceed 15 minutes, followed by a rest in the fresh air for 15 minutes.
For lighting in a vessel during the repair work, portable lamps with a voltage not exceeding 12 V are used, and for portable containers containing explosive substances portable lamps are used only in explosion-proof design. Often a floodlight installed on a tripod above the hatch is used to illuminate the tank. The used tools and equipment must exclude sparking (must be made of non-ferrous metal or non-sparking materials).
These safety requirements apply to manual cleaning, cleaning and disinfection of process vessels.
The work carried out in silos and bunkers has some specific features. For the descent of the worker into the silo, a special winch intended for lowering and lifting people must be used. Work in silos should be carried out by a team of 4 people: one - down, the second - working on the winch and two supervisors, one of which bleeds (chooses) the gas hose, the other bleeds the signal rope fixed at one end to the safety belt of the descending worker, and the other- For any solid construction outside the silo.
Before the descent into silo, the worker puts on a hose gas mask, a safety belt with a rescue rope and a protective helmet. Access of workers to the silos through the lower hatch is allowed only after airing the silos and analyzing the air for the absence of harmful and toxic substances, and in the absence of adhering masses of grain and flour on the walls and vaults of silage.
Preparation and execution of work in sewerage wells are carried out in compliance with the requirements of the "Safety Rules for the Operation of Water Supply and Sewerage Structures".
Work in the wells should be carried out only on the written request of the administration of the enterprise, agreed upon (with the receipt of the chiefs of shops) with all the shops technologically connected with the well in which the work will be done.
Works in wells should be carried out by a team of 3 people; One for work in the well, the second - the duration of work on the surface and the third - to observe and assist the worker in the well. Before the worker descends into the well, the presence of carbon dioxide and methane must be carefully checked with the gas analyzer. Works inside furnaces, ovens, chimneys, hot devices can only be carried out after they are cooled to a temperature of 30 ° C. If necessary, short-term work at a higher temperature develop additional security measures (continuous blowing with fresh air, the use of heat-insulating fireproof suits, heat-insulating shoes, more frequent breaks in work). Work inside the tank at a temperature above 50 ° C is prohibited. Workers are blown with fresh air from hand-held portable fans with a flexible hose with mobile showering units, including devices for spraying water in the supplied air.
After completion of work in tanks, silos, wells, fireboxes and other similar objects, the work manager must ensure that there are no people or foreign objects in them, and only after that give permission to close hatches.
